Technology Overview

Apoptosis is the pivotal mechanism controlling normal tissue homeostasis by regulating a balance between cell proliferation and death. Among the various apoptotic factors, the members of the Bcl-2 family and family of cysteine proteases – caspases, are some of the most well-defined. These intracellular proteins are involved in the initiation and execution of apoptosis or programmed cell death.

Target-In's innovative technology is the first to combine two pivotal, naturally occurring cellular mechanisms in a single, fully-human fusion protein. Termed apofusions, the Company's products are comprised of a cell suicide-inducing protein fused to a cell targeting protein on the cDNA level. The new biological entities specifically target disease-generating cell populations, and selectively eliminate them. The use of human apoptosis-inducing proteins as its effectors, results in the clean elimination of targeted cells without evoking side effects or immune responses, thereby enabling wide therapeutic range.
