Target-In and Century Pharmaceuticals will
jointly develop drugs against asthma and allergies on
the basis of molecules discovered by Target-In.
Israeli medical start-up Target-In Ltd.
Today signed a cooperation agreement with Indian active
pharmaceutical ingredient (API) manufacturer Century
Pharmaceuticals Ltd. In Jerusalem. The two companies
will jointly develop drugs against asthma and allergies
on the basis of molecules discovered by Target-In. The
molecules have not yet undergone clinical trials.
The agreement includes terms for long-term
collaboration in drug discovery and development.
Target-In will help Century Pharmaceuticals set up a
joint R&D center. Most of the early-stage drug
development will take place in Israel while production
will be done in India. The size of Century
Pharmaceuticals’ investment in the center was not
mentioned.
Target-In founder and CEO Dr. Shai
Yarkoni told “Globes” in July 2005 that every cell in
the body has a self-destruct mechanism that does no
effect on surrounding cells with which it is contact.
This mechanism is usually activated by signals from the
body. Target-In is developing molecules that will mimic
this signal to kill undesirable cells such as cancer
tumors or severely inflamed
tissues.
